The Rhuys peninsula, located in Brittany’s Gulf of Morbihan region, is an unmissable place to spend a few days on a corporate retreat. Bordering the Atlantic Ocean to the west and the Golfe du Morbihan to the south, this 25 km stretch is well known for its fine sandy beaches, salt marshes, cycling and walking trails, and nature parks where you can spot rare birds. Whether for a weekend or a single day, there’s something for everyone when exploring the Presqu’île de Rhuys.
Water sports: diving, kayaking, sea fishing
You’ll find plenty of water sports activities for all levels on the peninsula. For water sports enthusiasts, you can rent a kayak to explore the Gulf of Morbihan, visiting places like Arzon, Suscinio (for paddleboarding) and Billiers. For a more adventurous day out, you can rent a motorboat to explore several kilometers off the coast. For snorkeling enthusiasts, the 7-island archipelago opposite Arzon offers a magnificent seabed from which you won’t return unscathed! Finally, fishermen will be spoilt for choice between sea fishing (from a boat) or shore fishing from the shallow, sheltered waters that make up the Gulf of Morbihan.
Cultural activities: historical sites and museums
The Gulf of Morbihan is surrounded by archaeological sites dating back to the Neolithic period (known as the “Marais”), near the commune of Arzon. For history and culture buffs, the Château de Suscinio, a fortress dating from the 13th, 14th and 15th centuries, is a must-see. Its marshes are wetlands of astonishing ecological richness, home to remarkable flora and fauna.
